"Power Interface", curated by Rodolfo de Athayde

"Power Interface" is the recently inaugurated exhibition at Zapata Gallery, a proposal that stimulates dialogue between two prominent contemporary artists with a solid and innovative artistic trajectory: Reynier Leyva Novo and Rodolfo Peraza. Both are figures in harmony with the forms and discourses generated by universal art.

In the words of their curator, specialist Rodolfo Athayde:

"Power Interfaces" is the new exhibition at Zapata Gallery that brings together Reynier Leyva Novo and Rodolfo Peraza, two artists who have shared a generational experience and, from their own perspectives, affinities, and common languages, present an exhibition that reflects on how to subvert the interfaces of power mediation through the redesign of symbols and a hermeneutics of signs. The exhibition reveals the critical thinking of both artists about historical narrative and universal concepts of communication.

Zapata Gallery, founded in 2022 by Ledimari and Zeriocha Zapata, presents itself as an eclectic space that originates from the personal collection of its founders. Over more than a decade, they accumulated a significant collection, especially of contemporary Cuban art, thus generating the need for a space for its exhibition. In parallel, the programming of its first year has included specific projects that have the collaboration and curatorship of Rodolfo de Athayde. Among them, stand out "Open Box," a shared experience with El Apartamento gallery, "Project 3," which grouped visions and formats of three artists (Camila Lobón, Nelson Jalil, and Alejandro Taquechel), having as a common denominator a critical vision with a political accent, and "Power Interface," an exhibition that closes the year 2023 and will be open until February 4, 2024.
